The Windham Rail Trail Alliance is a non-profit organization based in Windham, New Hampshire that is dedicated to the preservation and development of the Windham Rail Trail. The trail spans over 4 miles and follows the former Boston and Maine Railroad line, providing a scenic route for walking, running, biking and other outdoor activities.
The Windham Rail Trail Alliance was founded in 2002 by a group of local residents who were passionate about creating a safe and accessible trail for the community to enjoy. Since then, the organization has worked tirelessly to develop and maintain the trail, including installing mile markers, benches, and signage.
The alliance also hosts a variety of events and programs throughout the year to promote the trail and encourage community involvement. These include guided nature walks, bike rides, and the annual Windham Rail Trail Marathon and Half-Marathon.
The Windham Rail Trail Alliance is run entirely by volunteers, who work together to ensure that the trail remains a safe and enjoyable resource for everyone in the community. Their dedication and hard work have made the Windham Rail Trail one of the most popular outdoor destinations in the area.
