The Madison Historical Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history of Madison, New Hampshire. The organization was founded in 1894, and is housed in a historic building located in the heart of Madison. The Society's mission is to preserve and promote the unique history of the town and its people.
The Society is responsible for the preservation and exhibition of a wide variety of artifacts, documents, and photographs pertaining to the history of Madison. The Society also manages the Madison Historical Museum, which is open to the public for free and offers visitors a chance to explore the town’s past. The museum includes a variety of interesting exhibits, such as a working model of a 19th century farm, as well as a display of artifacts from the town’s Civil War veterans.
The Madison Historical Society also hosts a number of events throughout the year. These include the annual Madison Historical Fair, which features live music, food, and games, as well as the Madison Historical Tour, which takes visitors on a guided tour of the town’s most significant historical sites. Additionally, the Society offers educational programs for adults, children, and families, such as lectures, workshops, and field trips.
