The Rundlet May House is an historic landmark located in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Built in 1807, it is one of the city’s oldest surviving homes. The house is named after John Rundlet May, an early Portsmouth merchant and philanthropist, and was constructed in the Federal style. The two-story brick house is a fine example of the period’s architecture, and has been carefully restored to its original appearance.

The exterior of the house is characterized by its symmetrical façade, gable roof, and central entrance. The entrance is located at the center of the façade and is framed by two impressive columns. The gable roof is lined with dentils and is topped with a pediment. The windows are arranged in pairs and feature 6/6 sash. The interior of the house is decorated with original Federal-style architectural elements, such as a handsome staircase and fireplaces.

The house was the site of many important events in the history of Portsmouth, including the signing of the Portsmouth Peace Treaty in 1905. Today, the house is part of the Strawbery Banke Museum, a living history museum that offers visitors a glimpse into Portsmouth’s past. The Rundlet May House is open to the public, and visitors can explore the house, learn about its history, and experience life in the early 1800s.
