Dakota County Historical Society (DCHS) is a non-profit organization located in Dakota City, Nebraska. The society was founded in 1940 with the aim of preserving and promoting the history of Dakota County. The society is responsible for the preservation and management of several historic sites in the county, including the St. John's Lutheran Church Museum, the General Dodge House, and the Dakota County Museum.

The St. John's Lutheran Church Museum is a restored 1888 church that showcases the history of the area's German Lutheran settlers. The General Dodge House, built-in 1869, was the home of Grenville M. Dodge, a prominent Civil War general and railroad builder. The house has been restored to its original grandeur and is open for public tours.

The Dakota County Museum is located in South Sioux City and houses an extensive collection of artifacts and exhibits that tell the story of the county's history. The museum's exhibits cover a wide range of subjects, including Native American history, pioneer life, and the development of agriculture and industry in the area.

In addition to preserving and promoting the county's history, DCHS also offers educational programs and events throughout the year. The society's mission is to inspire and educate people of all ages about the rich history of Dakota County.
