Frank James Bank Museum Inc. is a non-profit museum located in Liberty, Missouri. It is dedicated to preserving the legacy of Frank James, a famous outlaw of the 19th century. The museum is housed in the original site of the Clay County Savings Association, which was robbed by Frank James and his gang in 1876. The museum features a variety of artifacts and displays related to Frank James, including original documents and photographs, as well as various weapons used by the James-Younger gang. There is also a large collection of items related to the Pinkerton detective agency, which was hired to track the gang.
Other exhibits feature items from the Jesse James Farm, which was the James family homestead, as well as artifacts from the 1876 shootout between the James-Younger gang and a posse of Pinkerton detectives. The museum also houses a replica of the Clay County Savings Association bank, as well as a re-creation of the original jail cell that held Frank James after his capture. The museum offers a variety of educational programs and activities for visitors of all ages. Visitors can learn about the history of the James-Younger gang, explore the artifacts on display, and take part in interactive activities that bring the past to life.
