LATHROP HOUSE

REDWOOD CITY, CA

Prepare to be amazed We went to see Hanami, the cherry blossoms at Hakone Gardens, a Japanese garden in Saratoga, California. It was an enchanting experience to walk at night below cherry trees in full blossom, and along bamboo trees. This is the main gate where you enter.

I processed a realistic, a balanced, and a paintery HDR photo from three RAW exposures, blended them selectively, carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, and desaturated the image. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

Lathrop House in Redwood City, California is an historic two-story residence located on a half-acre lot. Built in 1872, it is the oldest residence in the city. The house was designed in the Italianate style by architect William B. Plant and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The house is named for William S. Lathrop, a prominent local businessman and banker who purchased the property in 1872. The house was built of redwood, with a sloped roof, wide eaves, and decorative brackets and molding. The front porch, which faces east, is supported by four columns and has a balustrade.

The interior of the house consists of a central hall, with parlors on either side, and four bedrooms upstairs. It features some unique features, including a curved wall in the hall, a carved marble fireplace mantel in the parlor, and original hardwood floors.

The house is now owned by the city of Redwood City and is used for special events and as a rental facility for meetings, receptions, and weddings. It is open to the public for tours on the first and third Saturdays of each month.
