Bethel German Communal Colony is a historic community located in Bethel, Missouri. It was founded by a group of German immigrants in 1844 who sought to establish a utopian society based on Christian principles. The colony was established as a communal society where all members shared property, labor, and resources.

The colony was organized around a central square, which included a church, school, and several communal buildings. The members of the colony worked together to farm the land and produce goods, which were sold to support the community.

Life in the colony was governed by a set of strict rules and regulations, which were designed to ensure equality and harmony among the members. Members were expected to work hard and contribute to the community, and individualism was discouraged in favor of cooperation and teamwork.

The colony thrived for several decades, but with the rise of industrialization and urbanization in the late 19th century, many members began to leave in search of better opportunities. By the early 20th century, the colony had disbanded, but several of its buildings and artifacts have been preserved as historic landmarks. Today, visitors can tour the site and learn about the unique history and culture of the Bethel German Communal Colony.
