The Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County, located in Moorhead, Minnesota, is an organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of Clay County, its people, and its culture. Founded in 1975, the organization is committed to researching, collecting, and preserving the history, artifacts, and memories of Clay County.
The Society sponsors and participates in numerous events throughout the year, including lectures, workshops, and exhibits, as well as a variety of educational activities such as field trips, tours, and school programs. The Society also maintains a research library and genealogy center, which is open to the public, and houses a variety of materials related to the history of Clay County and its people.
The Society is also actively involved in preservation and restoration of the area’s historical sites and buildings. In addition, the Society is an affiliate of the Minnesota Historical Society and works in coordination with other local historical organizations.
The mission of the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County is to foster a greater appreciation for the history and culture of Clay County by providing a forum for the exchange of ideas, education, and research. Through its efforts, the Society hopes to build a strong sense of community and shared identity among its residents.
