The Lakeville Area Historical Society is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to preserving the history of Lakeville, Minnesota and its surrounding communities. It was founded in 1976 by a group of local residents who were interested in preserving the area's unique history.

The society operates the Lakeville Depot Museum, which is located in the historic Milwaukee Road Train Depot. The museum features exhibits and artifacts that showcase the area's history, including a restored 1920s caboose and a replica of a turn-of-the-century general store.

In addition to the museum, the society hosts a variety of events and programs throughout the year, including walking tours, historical reenactments, and lectures by local historians. They also maintain an extensive archive of photographs, documents, and other materials related to the history of the area.
