Knee high by the fourth of July The westbound Aurora-Mankato turn picks up speed leaving the yard limits at Tracy, Minn. Still a few more miles to go before the train will reach home rails.

2020-03-25 14-28-39 While it was a sullen, cool day, the rain is welcome as it will be good for the coming spring planting. If you look closely, you can see how the drops have become like tiny camera lenses, having an upside down image of the grain elevators up the next block.

Morning at an old church I walked around Vesta, MN, a small town east of Marshall, MN. There was an old church that was closed up. I stopped to photograph it. It is only after I was editing the photo in Lightroom that I realized I'd accidentally left the lens at f/2.8 instead of the intended f/8. The result was chromatic aberrations in many places.
RCPE TRHU, Florence, Minn. A pair of RCPE SD40-2s lead TRHU across the Huron Sub on 7/7/2018. The Tracy and Huron Subs has been closed since 7/2 because of high water from storms.
RCPE TRHU, Florence, Minn. RCPE train TRHU takes the siding at Florence, Minn., where the crew would cut the train for two grade crossings, and then cab to Elkton to bring back an ethanol train.
Sunrise in Vesta, MN. The day before this photograph there was a blizzard. Overnight the blizzard stopped and the sky cleared. By morning it was bitterly cold. When I looked out the kitchen window I was struck by the shifting colors. There was fading pink, being replaced by gold. The shadows were still blue. The sky was changing to blue. The golden first light of the rising sun was hitting the grain towers and breathtaking. Another great thing was that the snow was untouched. I quick grabbed my camera and stood on the stoop to snap a few photographs while freezing in the crisp, still air.
2018-02-25 07-23-50 Snow and ice crystals glisten at dawn. There were beautiful wind driven patterns on the roof of the old grain bin with flakes shining like diamonds.
