The Welcome Historical Society of Welcome, Minnesota, is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history of Welcome and the surrounding area. Founded in 1994, the Society is committed to the preservation, protection, and promotion of Welcome's heritage through education, research, and preservation of physical artifacts, documents, photographs, and oral histories.
The Society's museum is located in a former schoolhouse and displays artifacts from the area's past. Exhibits tell the story of the area's history, beginning with the earliest Native American inhabitants, to the first settlers, to the development of the area as an agricultural center, and finally to its modern incarnation as a small town. In addition to the museum, the Society offers a variety of programs and events, such as guided tours of historical sites, lectures and demonstrations, and special events like a quilt show and a pie baking contest.
The Society also maintains an extensive library and archive, which contains books, photographs, maps, and other materials related to Welcome's history. The library is available to the public for research, and the Society provides a variety of educational programs to the community. This includes school programs and workshops on topics such as genealogy, local history, and historic preservation.
