The Melrose Area Historical Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history of Melrose and the surrounding area. Located in Melrose, Minnesota, the society was founded in 1945 and is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2020.
The society's mission is to collect, preserve, and document the heritage of Melrose and the Sauk Centre area. They host a variety of exhibits and activities on a regular basis. The society also maintains two permanent sites dedicated to the history of the area.
The Melrose Area Historical Society Museum is located in downtown Melrose and houses a variety of artifacts and collections related to the area's history. The museum also features a variety of displays and interactive exhibits for visitors to enjoy.
The other site maintained by the society is the Old Schoolhouse, located on the north side of town. The building was constructed in 1881 and served as the area's school until 1940. The society has renovated the building and now uses it for educational and historical programs for the community.
