The Oakdale Veterans Memorial is located in Oakdale, Minnesota, a suburb of St. Paul. It is a tribute to the men and women who served in the United States armed forces from World War I to present day. The memorial consists of a granite monument, two flagpoles, and two benches.
The granite monument is an obelisk, standing about 10 feet tall. Etched into the granite are the names of all the veterans from Oakdale who served in the armed forces. Two flagpoles, one for the United States flag and one for the Minnesota state flag, stand on either side of the monument. On the back side of the monument is a plaque honoring those who gave their lives in service to their country.
Two benches are located near the memorial, providing a place for visitors to sit and reflect. The area is landscaped with flowers, trees and bushes, and a walkway surrounds the memorial.
The Oakdale Veterans Memorial was established in 2004 and is maintained by the city of Oakdale. It is located in the Oakdale City Park and is open to the public. Each year, there is a Veterans Day ceremony held at the memorial to honor those who served. The memorial is a reminder of the sacrifices made by our veterans and a tribute to their courage and dedication.
