You're Going The Wrong Way &quot;Yeah, how would he know?&quot;

Well, CP 576 was actually headed the right way, but quite literally every time our little convoy pulled into this little lookout on the highway, we came in the wrong side, so...

At a river and wildlife roadside lookout to the south of Brownsville, MN, we were greeted by the now-familiar face of CP576, led by CP9376 and NS4462. This was one of the spots we'd shot on the way north towards La Crosse and, alongside a few others such as the Reno causeway, we knew we wanted to come back to and shoot a southbound. I'd say we tagged our spots fairly well, all told.

One Night In Reno The causeway at Reno is host to CP576 on its southward trek down the Marquette sub.

Overseer Just south of New Albin, CP 576 comes barreling around the curve around a small farm. Here, our group had suddenly split up, as we were missing our horn-adorned white truck while the other two were here and parked roadside (making nice places to stand!). It was only after I just so happened to glance up into the sky that I noticed the drone overhead staring down at us. To think we had the height advantage on top of the truck... Sneaky, sneaky.

Different Drum A meetup with friends along the Mississippi River prompted us to go out and do a little sight-seeing on the CP River &amp; Marquette Subs. Formerly Milwaukee Road trackage - and even Burlington before that - the trains are scattered and few, and more often than not led by foreign power. Case in point, we found ourselves rolling north into Minnesota only to find there was a BNSF-led train heading north behind us. The Dash 9 was a one-unit wonder with its long set of hoppers, and while not exactly photogenic power, the scenery more than made up for that.

One of the sights our motley crew of seven had spotted and wanted to shoot was the causeway near Reno. It was a no brainer - how could we not stop along the road to watch the train come rolling under the eye of one of the river valleys small mountains? It's scenery I sure haven't shot before, but it's certainly a new favourite to shoot, that's for sure.
