The Ames Florida Stork House is a historic landmark located in Rockford, Minnesota. Built in 1916, it was originally used as a maternity hospital for expectant mothers in the area. The building is named after Dr. Arthur Ames, a local physician who founded the hospital and provided care for the patients.

The Stork House is a two-story brick building with a distinctive white stucco exterior. It has a large front porch with columns and a balcony on the second floor. The interior features a central hallway with patient rooms on either side, as well as a nursery and operating room.

Over the years, the Stork House has been used for a variety of purposes, including a nursing home and a bed and breakfast. In 1980, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Today, the Stork House is a private residence and is not open to the public. However, visitors can still admire the building's unique architecture and learn about its important role in the history of Rockford and the surrounding area.

Accidentally Ahead of the Game Flashing back to fall, we return to Minnesota with the Milwaukee Road 261. The ferry move of the two Milwaukee engines and the last of the rollingstock was annoyingly changed from years past with the TC&W diesel in the lead. While this wasn't exactly ideal, it didn't prevent us from shooting, so it is what it is. I was rather surprised we actually made it to Hopkins first. This is where the train would condense and then rest overnight as final preparations were made for the weekends excursions. Our previous shot back in Minneapolis had required us to do a decent jog back to the car (something tells me my partner in crime here wasn't planning on doing a lot of running, hah) and then manage city streets and highways to get to Hopkins. It's always a little bit of a race, but this time around, I was sure we'd lose, which was fine. But, surprisingly enough, when we rolled up, Hopkins was devoid of a steam engine or its diesel leader (and trail-er, for that matter). Headlights glinted off the side of the vintage rollingstock - some authentic Milwaukee, others hailing from other roads but painted to match - after a brief wait, and the TC&W2013 led the 261 and its short procession into town. It was certainly disappointing not to have the steamer lead, but considering we had tomorrow to catch that plenty, it was alright. With a few parting shots once the train had passed, including a few of the 32A on the back, we decided to call it there and headed back to the car. For once, I wasn't stood around trains for the whole day, and did normal people things! Crazy how that works, right? Her influences, no doubt.
