Gull Rock Lightkeepers is a historic lighthouse located on Gull Rock Island in Lake Superior near Copper Harbor, Michigan. The lighthouse was first built in 1867 and has since been rebuilt several times. The current structure was built in 1913 and consists of a square tower made of steel and concrete, standing 70 feet tall. The tower is painted white with black trim and has a red light at the top that flashes every 10 seconds.
Gull Rock Lightkeepers was once home to lighthouse keepers who were responsible for ensuring the safety of shipping traffic in Lake Superior. However, the lighthouse has been automated since 1969 and is now monitored remotely by the United States Coast Guard.
Today, Gull Rock Lightkeepers is a popular tourist attraction, and visitors can take a boat tour to the island to view the lighthouse up close. The island is also a popular spot for fishing and hiking, and visitors can enjoy scenic views of Lake Superior from the island's rocky cliffs.
