We Went for a Walk Here's Joan, framed by a tree and a bush, on a trail called <a href="https://www.michiganaudubon.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Baker_MM-Trail-Map_Illustrated.pdf" rel="noreferrer nofollow">Meadow and Marshland</a>. She's carrying her then brand-new Nikon 1 J1. A dozen years ago today Joan and I spent part of the afternoon wandering around Michigan Audubon's Bernard Baker Sanctuary, where I caught this photo. Baker's long been one of our favorite hikes. <i>This is the March photo for my 2024 calendar.</i>

We Went for a Walk <i>I meant to post this yesterday....</i> On Valentine's day in 2017 Joan and I decided to explore Bennett Park in Charlotte. I'd been aware of the park more or less forever--it's just south of the fairgrounds, where I attend bluegrass festivals, and I'd photographed the old courthouse that's on the edge of the park. But I'd never set foot in the park, proper. It was a good walk in a park that's mostly a forest. Much of the venture looked about like this. <i>This photo's the February image for the 2024 calendar I made for family and friends.</i>
