The Norwegian Lutheran Church Historical Society in Calumet, Michigan is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the rich history of Norwegian Lutherans in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Founded in 1980, the society is housed in a restored 1898 church building that was once the home of the First Norwegian Lutheran Church.

Rock House : The Rock House served three purposes. First was to provide a building to house a crusher for the ore carried up the shaft. Second was to house storage bins for the crushed ore for loading on to rail cars for transport to the mill. And third was to house the operation for emptying the skip with the ore at a high enough elevation so that the ore could flow by gravity down through the crusher. All of this was facilitated by the ropes running from the hoist building, to the Rock House and down the shaft using more than 9,000 feet of rope. The Rock House was also used to allow changing the skips for water carriers for emptying water accumulating in the mine or for sleds to carry workers up and down the shaft.
