MICHIGAN ORAL HISTORY ASSOCIATION

The Michigan Oral History Association (MOHA) is a non-profit organization based in Lansing, Michigan. Founded in 1990, MOHA is dedicated to promoting and preserving the oral history of Michigan through research, education, and advocacy. MOHA's mission is to provide a platform for individuals to share their experiences as well as create a record of Michigan's past for future generations.
MOHA offers a variety of services to assist in the process of collecting oral histories. These services include providing resources for conducting oral history interviews, training and support for researchers, and the distribution of educational materials. MOHA also hosts annual conferences that bring together individuals interested in oral history and provide a forum for sharing best practices and learning new techniques.
In addition to its work in the field of oral history, MOHA also works to preserve the rich cultural heritage of Michigan. Through its Michigan Memory program, MOHA collects and archives audio, video, and textual materials related to the history of Michigan. This collection is available online to the public, allowing individuals to access and learn about the state's past.
MOHA is committed to engaging Michigan citizens in the preservation of their local history. Through its educational initiatives, MOHA provides resources and support to individuals and organizations interested in conducting research and collecting oral histories. This work helps to ensure that the stories and experiences of Michigan's past are remembered and passed down for generations to come.
