The East Lansing Historical Society Inc. (ELHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to researching and preserving the history of East Lansing, Michigan. Founded in 1969, the society is based in East Lansing and serves the Greater Lansing area. ELHS strives to collect, preserve, and share information about the history of East Lansing and to educate and engage the community in the study and appreciation of local heritage.

ELHS has an extensive collection of artifacts related to East Lansing, such as photographs, documents, maps, and oral histories. The society also maintains an online archive of materials. ELHS has a variety of educational programs, such as tours, lectures, and community events. The society also offers a variety of resources for research, including a reference library and an online catalog.

But the street name lives on to remind people of those earlier times.
