The Garden Peninsula Historical Society was founded in 1981 to preserve and promote the history and heritage of the Garden Peninsula in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a dedicated board of directors and volunteers.

The Garden Peninsula Historical Society operates the Garden Peninsula Museum, located in the Garden Township Hall. The museum features displays highlighting the history of the Garden Peninsula, including displays on Native Americans, lumbering, fishing, and other industries that were vital to the growth of the region. The museum also houses a library with a large collection of books, maps, photographs, and other resources to research the history of the area.

The Society also hosts several events and programs throughout the year, including lectures, workshops, and educational programs. These events are often held in conjunction with other organizations, such as the Garden Township Library and the Garden Peninsula School District. Additionally, the Society hosts an annual meeting where members of the community can learn more about the history of the Garden Peninsula.

The Garden Peninsula Historical Society is dedicated to preserving and promoting the history and heritage of the Garden Peninsula. They are always looking for volunteers and donations to help maintain their museum and library, and to support their educational and outreach programs.

Historic Building #2 Fayette Historic State Park is the state park of the historic town of Fayette in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is located on the Big Bay de Noc of Lake Michigan, between Snail Shell Harbor and Sand Bay, on the southern side of the Upper Peninsula, about 17 miles south of US 2. Fayette was the site of an industrial community that manufactured charcoal pig iron between 1867 and 1891. The town has been reconstructed into a living museum, showing what life was like in this town in the late 19th century.[4] It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.[5] (Wikipedia}
