Lumberjacks & Rivermens Park Association is a non-profit organization located in Vestaburg, Michigan. The association was founded in 1974 with the aim of promoting and preserving the history of the logging industry and the rivermen who worked on the rivers during the 19th century.
The park is spread over 120 acres and houses various historical structures, including a museum, a logging camp, a blacksmith shop, a sawmill, and a chapel. The museum displays a collection of artifacts, photographs, and documents related to the logging industry and the rivermen. Visitors can explore the logging camp, which is furnished with original equipment and tools used by the loggers.
The association also hosts several events throughout the year, including a Lumberjack Festival, a Rivermen Reunion, and a Christmas celebration. The Lumberjack Festival features various competitions, such as log rolling, axe throwing, and crosscut sawing. The Rivermen Reunion is a gathering of former rivermen and their families, where they share their experiences and stories of working on the rivers.
Lumberjacks & Rivermens Park Association is dedicated to preserving the history of the logging industry and the rivermen, and educating the public about their contributions to the development of Michigan. The park is open to the public from May to October, and admission is free. Donations are accepted and appreciated to help with the maintenance and upkeep of the park.
