Hackley and Hume Historic Site is a museum located in Muskegon, Michigan that showcases the extravagant lifestyles of lumber barons Charles Hackley and Thomas Hume. The site features three historic buildings: the Hackley House, the Hume House, and the City Barn.

The Hackley House is a Queen Anne-style mansion that was built in 1888 and features 25 rooms. Visitors can take a guided tour of the home and learn about the Hackley family and their contributions to the community.

The Hume House, built in 1877, is a Victorian-style mansion that features 17 rooms. Visitors can also take a guided tour of this home and learn about the Hume family and their role in the lumber industry.

The City Barn is a large building that was used to store and repair the Hackley and Hume lumber company's carriages and horses. Today, it houses exhibits and displays about the lumber industry and the history of Muskegon.

Summer fun gives way to fall reflections before snow comes Imagining a timelapse for this popular beach in the Ottawa County Parks system, the crowds of summer would thin out with the start of the school year as daily visitors shifted to weekends and then in colder weather and wet days and nights only the birdwatchers, poets, and dogwalkers pay a visit. After the leaves come off the forest to the right of the shoreline and frost gives was to snow, the snow fences put in by park workers perform their task of holding the dune structure and snow while strong winds rage. A few months after the winter solstice, as days lengthen and temperatures rise and fall to give maple syrup collectors plenty of sap to boil, more visitors begin appearing to enjoy the springtime promise of warmer days and colorful blooms emerging from the ground again. After so many weeks of indoor living, more and more people are eager to spend time outdoors and before long the snow fences are removed. After the danger of freezing pipes has passed, the drinking fountains are turned on and the bathrooms are unlocked and ready for use. After the cold season, even mild weather makes visitors feel ready to shed coats. A few may even wear shorts on cool but sunny days. And then summer arrives, maybe three weeks earlier than a generation ago, as climate change shrinks the snow season and extends the warm season.
