Bare bones of car or truck rest upside down The long steel bones of the chassis stand out in this afternoon photo on Labor Day 2023. The engine compartment is nearest to the camera position, but no powerhouse is visible. So, perhaps, in the time before this land near Lake Michigan was incorporated into the North Ottawa Dunes county park, the previous landowner salvaged the engine before carting the scrap vehicle into the woods and tipped it onto the ground or rolled it off the carrier, leaving it belly up. Judging from the wheel base and overall length it comes from the 1930s or 1940s. Whatever it once meant to somebody in its prime, today it is a curiosity to people walking this section of the forest hiking trails.
