Summer fun gives way to fall reflections before snow comes Imagining a timelapse for this popular beach in the Ottawa County Parks system, the crowds of summer would thin out with the start of the school year as daily visitors shifted to weekends and then in colder weather and wet days and nights only the birdwatchers, poets, and dogwalkers pay a visit. After the danger of freezing pipes has passed, the drinking fountains are turned on and the bathrooms are unlocked and ready for use. After the cold season, even mild weather makes visitors feel ready to shed coats. A few may even wear shorts on cool but sunny days. And then summer arrives, maybe three weeks earlier than a generation ago, as climate change shrinks the snow season and extends the warm season.
