SFVHS PIONEER CEMETERY

The San Fernando Valley Historical Society Pioneer Cemetery is located in Mission Hills, California. It is a small, historic cemetery that dates back to the mid-19th century. The cemetery was established in 1869 and contains the graves of some of the earliest settlers of the San Fernando Valley.

The cemetery is approximately two acres in size and is surrounded by a white picket fence. The graves are marked with simple headstones and some with more elaborate monuments. Many of the graves belong to members of the Lankershim and Van Nuys families, who were prominent landowners in the area.

In addition to the graves, the cemetery also contains a small chapel that was built in the early 20th century. The chapel is made of stucco and has a red tile roof. It is located near the entrance of the cemetery and is still used for occasional services.
