The Boston Fire Historical Society Inc. (BFHS) is a non-profit organization based in Readville, Massachusetts. Founded in 1983, the Society is dedicated to preserving the history of the Boston Fire Department and other related fire service organizations in the Boston metropolitan area. The Society maintains a museum, library, and archives, which are open to the public.

The BFHS Museum, located in Readville, houses over 10,000 artifacts related to the history of the Boston Fire Department. These artifacts include uniforms, helmets, badges, photographs, and documents from the department’s early days. The Museum also houses a collection of fire apparatus from the 19th and 20th centuries. The BFHS Library contains over 1,000 volumes of books, periodicals, and photographs related to the history of the fire service.

The BFHS Archives are located at the Museum, and hold an extensive collection of records from the Boston Fire Department. These records date from the mid-1800s to the present day and include log books, incident reports, photographs, and newspaper clippings. The BFHS also holds an annual memorial service in honor of Boston Firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

In addition to its museum and archives, the BFHS is active in the community. The Society participates in outreach activities, lectures, and educational programs, with the aim of educating the public about the history of the Boston Fire Department. The Society also holds an annual “Firefighters Appreciation Day” each summer to honor the members of the Boston Fire Department.
