The Osterville Historical Society, located in Osterville, Massachusetts, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of the village of Osterville. Founded in 1975, the Society is the steward of two historic buildings and two historic landscapes that are open to the public. The Society's mission is to collect and preserve the material, intellectual, and spiritual culture of Osterville and its people, to promote an understanding of the historical, social and cultural heritage of the village, and to provide educational programs, exhibits and publications.
The Society's two historic properties are the 1859 Crosby Mansion, a Greek Revival style mansion located on Wianno Avenue, and the 1860 Nathanial Crocker House, a Federal style building located at the corner of Wianno and West Bay Road. Both buildings have been restored and are open to the public for tours. The Society also maintains two historic landscapes, the Osterville Village Green, a public park located at the center of the village, and the Osterville Historical Cemetery, a cemetery located on West Bay Road.
The Society offers a variety of educational programs and events for adults and children, such as lectures, guided walking tours, and exhibits. The Society also publishes a quarterly newsletter, The Voice of Osterville, that includes articles about the history of Osterville and its people.
