The Dorchester Historical Society (DHS) is located in the Fields Corner neighborhood of Dorchester, Massachusetts. Established in 1907, DHS is one of the oldest and most respected historical societies in the United States. DHS collects, preserves, and interprets the history of Dorchester, a community of more than 90,000 people. DHS houses a large collection of artifacts, documents, photographs, and oral histories, which are used to interpret the history of the neighborhood.

DHS manages several properties, including the William Clapp House, which was once owned by a prominent lawyer who served in the Massachusetts State Legislature. The house is now a museum that offers tours and educational programs. The society also oversees the Thomas Crane Public Library, which is housed in a historic building and contains a large collection of books, maps, and photographs related to the history of Dorchester.

In addition to managing its properties, the society offers educational programs and lectures, and it hosts a number of special events throughout the year. These include a yearly art exhibit, a walking tour of Dorchester's historic sites, and a variety of lectures and workshops. The society also produces a quarterly newsletter that is distributed to its members.

The Dorchester Historical Society is a vital resource for the community, and its mission is to promote a greater appreciation and understanding of Dorchester's history.
