The American Hand Fire Engine Society of Newbury, Massachusetts, is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of hand fire engines and related artifacts from the 18th and 19th centuries. Founded in 1973, the Society’s mission is to protect, preserve, and share the history of these early firefighting tools.

The Society’s collections include a variety of hand fire engines, pumps, ladders, and other related artifacts. Much of the equipment is on display at the Society’s museum in Newbury, which is open to the public. The museum also hosts a variety of educational programs, lectures, and demonstrations related to firefighting history.

The Society also organizes a parade in Newbury each year to celebrate the town’s firefighting history. The parade features antique fire apparatus from the Society’s collection as well as from other organizations from around the region.

In addition to its museum and parade, the Society also hosts a variety of other events throughout the year. These include a Fireman’s Ball, a Tour of Firehouses, and an annual picnic.

The American Hand Fire Engine Society of Newbury is dedicated to the preservation of our firefighting heritage and to educating the public about its significance. Through its museum, parade, and other events, the Society helps honor the brave men and women who have fought fires throughout history.
