Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums, Inc. (PATVAT) is a non-profit organization based in Hingham, Massachusetts. Founded in 1987, PATVAT is dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the art and artifacts housed in the Vatican Museums, which have been the repository for some of the world’s most significant works of art for nearly 500 years. PATVAT’s mission is to preserve, restore and promote the artistic legacy of the Vatican Museums.
PATVAT raises funds through individual and corporate donations, as well as through public events, merchandise sales and other activities. Funds raised are used to restore and conserve works of art, to create educational materials and programs, and to support research and archaeological expeditions. PATVAT also provides grants to help purchase new works of art and to support related projects.
PATVAT is led by a volunteer board of directors, who are responsible for overseeing operations and ensuring that the organization’s goals and objectives are met. The board consists of representatives from the Vatican Museums, the Catholic Church, the arts community, and individuals from both the public and private sectors.
PATVAT has had considerable success in its efforts to preserve and restore the art and artifacts of the Vatican Museums, and to promote their importance to the world. The organization’s efforts have been recognized and appreciated by the Vatican and the art community, and have earned PATVAT many awards and accolades.
