Southwick Historical Society Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of Southwick, Massachusetts. The society was founded in 1984 and is located in the historic district of Southwick.
The mission of the Southwick Historical Society is to collect, preserve, and interpret the history of the town of Southwick, including the document and artifact collections, and to communicate this history to the local community and beyond. To this end, the society holds numerous events, classes, and lectures throughout the year, in addition to offering tours of the Southwick Historical Museum.
The Southwick Historical Museum is located in the old Southwick Town Hall, which was built in 1876 and was home to the Southwick Town Council from 1877-1935. The museum houses a collection of artifacts and documents from the area's past, including photographs, clothing, documents, books, and tools. The museum also has a research library, with genealogical records, maps, and other reference materials.
The Southwick Historical Society also offers a variety of educational programs, workshops, and field trips for school-aged children and adults, designed to promote a greater understanding of Southwick’s history and culture. The Society also holds annual events, such as the Southwick Apple & Cheese Festival, to celebrate the town's heritage.
