HIGGINS ARMORY MUSEUM

Higgins Armory Museum was a museum in Worcester, Massachusetts, dedicated to the display of arms and armor. The museum was opened in 1931 by John Woodman Higgins, a Worcester industrialist and collector of arms and armor. The museum was housed in a unique building designed to resemble a medieval castle, and its collection included over 2,000 pieces of armor, weapons, and related objects from around the world.

The museum's exhibits included displays of armor from various cultures and time periods, including medieval Europe, ancient Greece and Rome, and Japan. The collection also included swords, shields, and other weapons, as well as items such as crossbows, muskets, and pistols. In addition to the permanent collection, the museum hosted temporary exhibitions and educational programs for visitors of all ages.

Sadly, the museum closed its doors in 2013, but its collection was transferred to the Worcester Art Museum, where it remains on display. Despite its closure, the Higgins Armory Museum remains an important part of the cultural history of Worcester and an important resource for scholars and enthusiasts of arms and armor.
