EDWARD GOREY HOUSE

Edward Gorey House is a historic house located in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts. The house was designed and constructed in 1982 by the well-known American illustrator and author Edward Gorey. It is a single-story saltbox-style house with a gambrel roof, which is typical of the region’s traditional architecture. The house was built on the grounds of an 18th-century farmhouse where Gorey lived for the last decade of his life.

The house consists of three main rooms, a main living room and two bedrooms. The main living room features a wood-burning fireplace and a large window that looks out onto the garden. The two bedrooms are located at either end of the house and feature skylights and built-in bookshelves.

The house is surrounded by a garden, which includes a variety of flowers, shrubs, and trees. There is a pond in the garden, which is stocked with fish, and a gazebo where Gorey spent much of his time.

The house is now owned and operated as a museum by the Edward Gorey Charitable Trust. It is open to the public and offers guided tours of the house and garden.
