The Altus Heritage Museum in Altus, AR is a museum that celebrates the local history and culture of the area. It was founded in 1978 by the late Dr. R.H.D. Lively, a local historian and advocate for preserving the history of the people and places of Altus. The museum is located in a historic downtown building that was built in the early 1900s.

The museum offers a variety of exhibits featuring the history of Altus and the surrounding area. Visitors can explore artifacts which include items from the Civil War period, Native American artifacts, and items from the early pioneers who settled the area. In addition, the museum also houses a collection of photos, documents and maps which tell the story of the area’s past.

The Altus Heritage Museum also offers educational programs and events throughout the year such as lectures, film screenings, and special events. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 4pm and admission is free. It is a great place to learn about the rich history and culture of Arkansas.
