Blaine House is a historic mansion located in Augusta, Maine, USA. It is the official residence of the Governor of Maine. The house was built in 1833 by James Hall, a local businessman, and was bought by James G. Blaine, a prominent politician and statesman in 1862. The house is a two-and-a-half-story brick building with a white stucco facade and a slate roof. It has a symmetrical design with five bays, a central entrance, and a cupola on top of the roof.
The interior of the Blaine House is decorated with antique furniture, paintings, and other historical artifacts that reflect the state's rich cultural heritage. The house has a library, a formal dining room, a parlor, and several bedrooms. The Governor's office is also located in the Blaine House.

![Engine Number Nine This past Saturday I spent about five hours or so riding this restored train. I like this photo because of the dark smoke and white steam as the engine is being readied to be coupled to the caboose, box car, and flat car that comprise the train. Also there is some nice fall color. The gentleman in the red and black shirt is installing what were once white flags one on either side of the engine. About 15 riders, mostly train buffs, were on this train. The building is the water tower used to fill the tanks of the locomotives.
The Wiscasset, Waterville and Farmington Railway is a 2 ft (610 mm) narrow gauge railway. The line was operated as a for-profit company from 1895 until 1933 between the Maine towns of Wiscasset, Albion, and Winslow, but was abandoned in 1936. Today, about three miles (4.8 km) of the track in the town of Alna has been rebuilt and is operated by the non-profit Wiscasset, Waterville and Farmington Railway Museum as a heritage railroad offering passenger excursion trains and hauling occasional cargo.
Engine 9 was built by the Portland Company in Portland Maine as works number 622 completed on May 2, 1891and is a 0-4-4T Forney locomotive now owned and operated by the Wiscasset Waterville, and Farmingtone Railway, Alna, Maine. ![Leaping Sturgeon Last year 25 fiberglass sturgeons were placed in front of businesses along Water Street in Augusta, Maine. The shop owners were responsible for decorating them in any way they preferred. This year they have been brought back. Water Street follows the Kennebec River that is just behind the row of buildings. It is not unusual to see these fish actually leaping and flopping back into the water. This one is in front of a local restaurant. I did take the liberty of removing the support that keeps the fish aloft. HSS
Sturgeon are an annual draw to the Kennebec, which has some of the best habitat for the ancient species in Maine and is home to both the endangered shortnose sturgeon and the Atlantic sturgeon, whose population is considered depleted.
Every year, from late spring to summer, Atlantic sturgeon can be seen launching themselves into the air and belly-flopping on the river. No one is sure why.
The fiberglass sturgeon, bearing the design of the artists and organizations chosen to take part, will be installed to make it appear they are leaping, too.
