NOTTOWAY PLANTATION HOUSE

Nottoway Plantation House is a historic antebellum mansion located in White Castle, Louisiana. Built in the mid-19th century, it is one of the largest surviving plantation houses in the southern United States. The mansion was constructed in the Greek Revival architectural style and features 64 rooms, 22 of which are open to the public for tours.

The house was originally built for John Hampden Randolph and his wife Emily Jane Liddell Randolph. It was later sold to a sugar plantation owner, and then to a family who operated it as a bed and breakfast. In 2018, the property was purchased by current owners Paul Ramsay and John Danielson, who have restored and updated the mansion while preserving its historic charm.

Visitors to Nottoway Plantation House can take guided tours of the mansion and its grounds, which include gardens, a pool, a carriage house, and a former slave cabin that has been turned into a museum. The mansion has also been used as a venue for weddings, events, and overnight stays in its guest rooms.

Nottoway Plantation House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a designated National Historic Landmark. Its rich history and stunning architecture make it a must-see attraction for anyone interested in southern plantation culture and history.
