The Appanoose Area Preservation Society (AAPS) is a non-profit organization based in Pomona, Kansas. Founded in 2003, the mission of the AAPS is to protect and preserve the natural resources of the Appanoose area for the benefit of the local community and beyond. The Society works to protect and restore the habitat of the area, as well as to educate the public about the importance of preserving natural areas.

The Society focuses on four main areas of work: protecting and preserving native habitat, restoring nature to its natural state, educating and engaging the public, and advocating for the conservation of native species. These efforts are accomplished through a variety of methods, including land acquisition, habitat restoration projects, public outreach, and advocacy. The Society also works with local, state, and federal partners to ensure the protection and restoration of the Appanoose area.

The Appanoose Area Preservation Society is funded by donations, grants, and other forms of public and private support. Funds are used to promote the preservation of the area’s natural resources, as well as to support the Society’s educational and public outreach initiatives. The Society also provides volunteer opportunities for individuals who are interested in helping to protect and restore the unique environment of the Appanoose area.
