ENGINE HOUSE NO. 6

Engine House No. 6 is a historic building located in Wichita, Kansas. It was built in 1910 and served as a fire station until 1971. The building is a two-story brick structure with a flat roof and a tower that housed a bell for summoning firefighters to duty. The building also features an arched entrance, decorative brickwork, and pilasters with Corinthian capitals.

After its retirement as a fire station, the building was repurposed for various uses, including a community center and a police substation. In 2019, the city of Wichita renovated the building and opened it as a museum dedicated to the history of the Wichita Fire Department.

The museum features exhibits on the history of firefighting in Wichita, including the equipment used by firefighters throughout the years, the history of the department, and the stories of notable fires in the city's history. Visitors can also see the original fire pole, which was used by firefighters to slide from the living quarters on the second floor down to the apparatus bay on the first floor.
