The Phillips County Historical Society Inc. in Phillipsburg, KS strives to preserve the rich history of Phillips County, Kansas and to promote public interest in local history. Established in 1969, the Society has grown to become one of the largest and most active historical societies in Kansas. In addition to preserving the past, the Society works to educate the community about the history of Phillips County.
The Society's main office is located in the old Carnegie Library building in Phillipsburg. The Society operates a museum on the second floor of the building, dedicated to preserving the county's past. The museum features a variety of artifacts, photographs, documents, and displays related to Phillips County history. The Society also hosts a variety of events, including lectures, guided tours, and workshops.
The Society maintains an extensive collection of historical books, photographs, and documents. These materials are available to researchers and members of the public for use in research or personal interest. The Society also works to preserve and restore historic sites in the area, such as the old Santa Fe Depot in Phillipsburg.
