The Grinnell-Angelus Area Heritage Center, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Grinnell, Kansas. Founded in 1993, the mission of the organization is to collect, preserve and interpret the history of Grinnell, Angelus and surrounding area. The Heritage Center is located in the old Grinnell School, a two-story brick building that was constructed in 1912. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and houses a museum, research library, and a community gathering space.
The museum displays a wide range of artifacts, photographs and documents that tell the story of the area’s history and culture. Visitors can explore the old school building and the artifacts on display, as well as learn about the area’s Native American and pioneer history. The research library contains a variety of resources, including books, magazines, newspapers, and photographs, that can be used to research local and regional history.
The Heritage Center also hosts a variety of educational and cultural events throughout the year. These events include lectures, workshops, and field trips that explore the history of the area. The Heritage Center also offers educational programs for area schools, and hosts a monthly book club.
