The New Sharon Area Historical Society was founded in 1975, and is dedicated to preserving the history of New Sharon and the surrounding area. The Society is located in the former East Union School, a two-story brick building that was built in 1889 and served as an educational facility until 1975. The building is now the home of the Society, and houses a museum, library, and archive which are open to the public.
