The Gila County Historical Society Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the region’s unique history and culture in Globe, Arizona. Founded in 1984, the Society has been collecting, preserving and interpreting the area’s diverse past for over three decades.

The Society operates the Gila County Historical Museum, located in downtown Globe. The museum houses a variety of artifacts, photographs, and archives related to the county’s long and colorful history. The museum also has an extensive library of books, periodicals and other research materials that can be accessed by visitors.

The Society also organizes special events and educational programs throughout the year to help promote the county’s history. These events include lectures, workshops, field trips, and other activities that are aimed at informing and educating the public about the area’s past.

In addition to its museum and special events, the Society also operates a stewardship program that seeks to preserve important historical sites in the area. This program works to protect and preserve sites like old stagecoach trails, military forts, logging camps and other sites that are important to the county’s history.

The Gila County Historical Society Inc. is dedicated to preserving the past and educating the public about the area’s unique history and culture. Through its museum, special events, and stewardship program, the Society works to ensure that the region’s history is preserved for future generations.
