RIVERSIDE HISTORY CENTER

The Riverside History Center is located in the small city of Riverside, Iowa. It is housed in the former Riverside High School, which was built in 1912 and served the community until 1967. The Center was established in 1996, and is dedicated to the preservation of the history of the city, the county, and the region. It consists of a museum, library, and archive, and is open to the public free of charge.

The museum houses hundreds of artifacts, documents, photographs, and other items of historical interest, with a special emphasis on the early history of the area, including the first settlers, the Civil War, and the Great Depression. The library contains books, magazines, and other media related to the history of the area, as well as a reference section. The archives contain documents, photographs, maps, and other materials related to Riverside and the surrounding area.

The Center also offers a variety of educational programs, such as lectures and classes, as well as field trips and tours of the area’s historic sites. It also has a gift shop, and hosts special events throughout the year. The Center is run by a volunteer board of directors, and is supported by donations, grants, and memberships.
