Cliffs above South Parker Creek Spectacular diabase, limestone, and quartzite pinnacles and cliffs tower over South Parker Creek. The mouth of the canyon is at 5000 feet; the rimrock at top lies at 7000 feet.

South Parker Creek flows almost year round and supports riparian trees such as Arizona white, Emory, and Gambel oaks, Arizona sycamores, Arizona walnuts, inland box elders, and, at higher elevations, bigtooth (or canyon) maples.

Near-permanent ponds in the creekbed support a population of canyon treefrogs.
