The colocated historical marker says: "On this site in 1854, Timothy Thistlewaite and his brother-in-law Joseph Ratliff dammed the water of the river with the use of farm teams, placing large boulders at the bottom of the earth and stone fill in the river channel; this changed the course of the river to flow into a new channel over a rocky ledge forming Thistlewaite Falls... Mr. Thistlewaite's saw mill at this site was placed at the edge of the falls over a shoulder of rock and near the bull wheel... The 47' fall from the falls allowed Timothy's development of several mills..."

The Indiana Football Hall of Fame Inc. in Richmond, Indiana is a non-profit organization dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the accomplishments of Indiana's high school, college, and professional football players, coaches, and administrators. Founded in 1965, the Hall of Fame has inducted over 500 members and continues to honor the excellence of Indiana football.

The Center features a Football Hall of Fame Museum which displays artifacts, photographs, and memorabilia honoring the inductees.
