The Tucson Presidio Trust for Historic Preservation (TPTHP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and protecting the historic sites of Tucson, Arizona. Founded in 1998, TPTHP is the only non-profit organization in Arizona dedicated to preserving and protecting the historic, cultural and archaeological resources of Tucson, Arizona. Its mission is to preserve, protect and maintain the integrity of the historic sites of Tucson.
TPTHP works to protect and preserve the historic sites of Tucson by advocating for their preservation, researching and interpreting their significance, providing educational and interpretive programs, and facilitating public access to the sites. The organization also seeks to create a sense of place, identity and pride in the Tucson community through its efforts.
TPTHP has secured the preservation of more than 40 significant sites in Tucson, including the Tucson Presidio, the oldest European structure in Arizona, and the Mission San Xavier del Bac, one of the most significant Spanish colonial mission sites in the United States. The organization also works to create public access to the sites and to provide educational and interpretive programs about the sites and their history.
The Tucson Presidio Trust for Historic Preservation is a leading force in the preservation of Tucson’s historic sites and has had a significant impact on the city’s cultural landscape. Through its work, TPTHP has helped to ensure the preservation of Tucson’s irreplaceable historic sites and to foster the appreciation of the city’s unique cultural heritage.
