Hancock County Historical Society (HCHS) is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1962 to promote and preserve the history of Hancock County, Indiana. Located in Greenfield, Indiana, HCHS is dedicated to collecting and sharing the history of the people, places and events that have shaped Hancock County and its communities.

HCHS holds an extensive collection of photographs and artifacts, including documents, books, newspapers, maps and photographs, as well as a large number of artifacts from the early settlers of the county. The Society also houses a library with books and periodicals related to local and regional history, genealogy and archaeology.

In addition to its collection and preservation efforts, HCHS also offers educational programs and events throughout the year. The Society hosts a variety of special events, such as the annual Hancock County History Fair and the Hancock County Historical Society Festival, as well as educational programs, lectures and tours.

HCHS also maintains and operates two historic sites. The first, the Hancock County Courthouse, is a 19th century building located in downtown Greenfield, and the second, the Historic Wilbur Wright Birthplace, is the birthplace of aviation pioneer Wilbur Wright.
