The Illinois State Genealogical Society (ISGS) is an independent, non-profit organization established in 1975 to promote the study and preservation of family history and genealogy in the state of Illinois. The society is headquartered in Champaign, Illinois and is dedicated to providing resources, educational opportunities, and support to genealogists, historians, librarians, and other interested individuals.

The Society offers an extensive library of genealogical materials, including books, periodicals, microfilm and CD-ROMs on a wide range of topics, including Illinois history, pedigree charts and family group records, cemetery records, vital records, and many others. In addition, ISGS maintains a collection of genealogical databases, including the Illinois Statewide Index to Death Certificates (1916-1950), and the Illinois Statewide Index to Marriage Records (1810-1915).

The Society also provides a variety of educational programs and seminars to increase knowledge and skills in genealogical research. Courses are offered on topics such as beginning genealogy, using the Internet for genealogical research, and using library resources for genealogical research.

The Society also sponsors several annual events, including the Illinois State Genealogical Conference and the Illinois State Genealogical Society's Annual Conference. Both conferences feature lectures, workshops, and displays from nationally acclaimed speakers, authors, and experts in the field.
