The Breese Historical Society, located in Breese, Illinois, is an organization dedicated to the preservation and celebration of the city’s rich and vibrant history. Founded in 1973, the Society operates the Breese Historic Museum, a two-story building located in the city’s downtown area. The museum houses a variety of exhibits that commemorate and celebrate the area’s past, including artifacts and photographs of the city’s early settlers, the development of local businesses, and the growth of the surrounding agricultural community.

The Society also maintains several other sites, such as the Breese Cemetery, which features headstones from the early 19th century, and the Breese Heritage House, a restored early 20th-century home. In addition, the Society organizes a variety of events throughout the year, including tours of historic sites, lectures on local history, and educational programs for children.

The Society’s mission is to “preserve, research, and interpret the history of Breese and the surrounding area,” and it is open to the public on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm.
